Piglet was
found by a most remarkable chance. We are occasional patrons of
the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea, MI, a wonderful small professional
theatre founded by the actor Jeff Daniels (who is from Chelsea).
In the summer of 2025, they did a comedy titled, Bert and Trixie go to the Vet, in
which the various animals (two blond labs, a bird, and a feral cat) are
played by humans. As part of the promotion for the show, the
Cascades Humane Society would occasionally bring puppies and cats to
the theatre for patrons to meet. Well, that is how we met Piglet
one Thursday evening in July, 2025, and we fell in love with her on the
spot. We put down a deposit to hold her for adoption the next
morning, spent the impending weekend puppy-proofing (very imperfectly)
our house, and brought her home, all 25 pounds of her, on Tuesday.
